what     who     why     when     where     how
Our first hotel development project, Tiamo, was located in one of the most beautiful yet wild areas of The Bahamas. While totally undeveloped, miles away from everything and surrounded by intense natural beauty, the attraction to Andros came with one persistent little detail − sand flies. Our partner in the Tiamo project was from Jamaica and using her language full of description and color, she called them “flying teeth.”

For us “flying teeth” represents three distinct lines of thought:

First is the shear tenacity and impact of something so small that it is nearly invisible to the human eye. Coming from a culture where "bigger is better" (and always questioning that mantra), we grew to respect this little creature’s ability to impact a process and an experience. It's our opinion, that there are direct correlations to doing business. We believe its the smallest details that can make the biggest difference − especially in hospitality.

Second is environmental relationships. We considered many alternatives when it came to dealing with the "flying teeth." But most "solutions" involved some level of environmental change or destruction − not an option for our internationally-acclaimed, award-winning ecoresort. Attempting to remove this teethy creature meant potential damage to parts of the environment and experience that Tiamo was promoting and protecting. For us at Flying teeth − its all tied together.

Third is understanding that details can and should be overcome with details. We learned that by focusing on finding ways to create a marketable and satisfying experience in spite of this interminably challenging detail provided the guest satisfaction we needed to succeed. To quote Mr. Firestone - "success is the sum of the details."

FlyingTeeth is a company steeped in the discovery, promotion and execution of the details that make the profitable difference in your boutique hospitality business. You may not have sand flies, but certainly there exist other “interminable challenges” that must be addressed and overcome − we will help you do just that.
